Westland Weddings
Marriage is a sacred covenant with God between a man and a woman. We desire for couples to honor and embrace God’s intended purpose for them, their marriage and their lives.
Your wedding is a worship service in God’s house, in His presence. Please read and honor the following guidelines, policies and procedures for your special day.
Reservations
To inquire about availability and request reservation of a date for your wedding you may come in or call the church office at 281-392-5099. You may also e-mail your inquiry to wbcreceptionist@westland.cc or ednaconner@westland.cc .
Mandatory Counseling
We require the engaged couple to have three pre-marital counseling sessions with one of our Westland pastors. It is your obligation to schedule these sessions with the pastor. Your wedding with us will be canceled if you do not attend these three pre-marital counseling sessions. A pre-marital seminar is also strongly recommended.
Facilities

Chapel - Our chapel is available for weddings and seats 250. No extra chairs may be added.
Worship Center and Youth Center – The main Worship Center and Atrium or the Youth Center and its Atrium are available only for receptions.
Deposits and Fees
Security Deposit -$300.00
A check for the $300.00 Security Deposit must be submitted with your Wedding Application. Checks should be made payable to Westland Baptist church and marked Wedding Security Deposit on the memo line.
Your deposit will not be returned if you cancel your wedding reservation with us.
You will also forfeit your deposit if you do not comply with the guidelines listed for Weddings at Westland.
Your deposit will be refunded to you within 30 days of your wedding date only if there has been complete compliance with staff and guidelines and no damage to the building or property, or if excessive clean-up is not necessary resulting from your wedding ceremony or reception.
Chapel Fee:
Member – $750.00 Non-member – $1250.00
The fee includes use of the Chapel, Atrium, kitchen, restrooms and rooms allotted for bride and groom use, event coordinator, sound and light tech., set up, tear down, and janitor.
Reception:
Member – $750.00 Non-member – $1250.00
The fee includes use of either the Worship Center and its Atrium or the Youth Center and its Atrium, the kitchen, restrooms, event coordinator, set up, tear down, and janitor. Westland has 22 round tables available for reception use that seat 8 per table. Rectangular tables are available for serving. Chairs are available for either location. You should confirm table and chair needs and arrangement with the Event Coordinator. Any additional tables or chairs are your responsibility for rental, delivery and pick-up.
Building Availability
Wedding:
The rented areas will be available for 2 hours before the ceremony for set up, 1 hour for the ceremony itself and 1 hour after the ceremony for clean up.
Reception:
The rented areas will be available 2 hours before the ceremony for decorating and 1 hour after the reception for clean up.
Event Coordinator
The Event Coordinator is your liaison with Westland to help you with any questions, confirm details, oversee the rehearsal and facilitate the ceremony and/or reception. You will be provided with the name and contact info for your Westland Event Coordinator on your copy of the Wedding Application page. If you hire an outside Wedding Planner, they are welcome and encouraged to work with our Event Coordinator for the rehearsal, ceremony and reception (if at Westland).
1st Meeting: You should schedule your first meeting with the Event Coordinator soon after your reservation has been confirmed.
2nd Meeting: You should schedule a second meeting no later than 30 days before your wedding.
Important Note:
You need to give the Event Coordinator your marriage license at the wedding rehearsal.
At the wedding rehearsal, you will also give the pastor’s honorarium to the event coordinator in an envelope marked with his name.
Minister
You may request one of our ministers to perform your rehearsal and marriage ceremony. An outside minister must be approved by our senior pastor. As stated previously, one of our pastors must be contacted and scheduled for pre-marital counseling which must be completed before the wedding.
Minister honorarium: It is accepted that payment should be made to the minister performing your rehearsal and ceremony. The payment should be put in an envelope and marked with the minister’s name and given to the event coordinator at the rehearsal. The suggested amount is $300.00.
Rehearsal
The Chapel will be available for your wedding rehearsal for one hour on the evening before your wedding ceremony. You will schedule that time with the Event Coordinator. The performing minister, along with our Event Coordinator will facilitate your rehearsal. Remember to include the outside wedding planner if you have one. It is very important that all members of the wedding party, the parents of the bride and groom, and the ushers, if you have them, attend and arrive on time.
Music and Sound
We provide a sound and lighting technician only. They will be available for the rehearsal and the wedding. If you have booked a reception with us, a sound tech is not included. They will be contacted by the Event Coordinator.
It is your responsibility to provide appropriate music cd’s and/or dvd’s for the ceremony.
We do not offer, therefore it is your responsibility to provide any photographer, videographer, live vocalists, or musicians if you so desire. The above are your sole responsibility. Their dress should be appropriate and honor the occasion. (i.e. – No shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops, etc.)
Flowers and Decorations
We provide tables and chairs for the reception only. We do not provide storage for any decorations or flowers either before or after the wedding. You are responsible for all decorations and necessities for your event, and their removal after the event.
Personal Property
We are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged dresses, clothing, vehicles, items or property you or a vendor bring in for your event, either in the building or on the church property. Do not leave items behind. We will not store them. Any items, such as clothing, food, flowers, or any other property brought in for the rehearsal, wedding or reception, that are left here after your event will be disposed of. (Thrown away or donated).
Important Information
(Do’s and Don’ts!)
v Childcare is not provided for the rehearsal, wedding or reception.
v Children in the wedding party: Children under the age of 10 are only permitted for the Processional. They should be seated with their parent or guardian before the minister proceeds with the ceremony.
v There will be no use of alcohol by anyone in your wedding party, guests or hired help.
v Pets or animals are not allowed for any part of the event.
v Confine your wedding party and guests and outside hired help to the Chapel, Atrium, kitchen and reception area, if applicable, only.
v No rice, confetti, bird seed, etc. may be thrown indoors or outside. Bubbles are acceptable outside.
v Live flames should be drip-less candles only. Please be cautious with the flames and wax. Clear plastic, cellophane, or firm poster board must be placed under any candles or candle holders. Do not combine candle flame closely with fabric, ribbon or greenery.
v Be careful to use nothing that will mar the walls, ceiling, floors, woodwork, carpet or furniture. Nothing may be attached to the walls or ceiling. Pews may have plastic or padded floral/bow hangers only.
v No food or drink is allowed in the Chapel at any time.
v Attire: Please use discretion and dress appropriately for the rehearsal, wedding and reception. Bridal gowns and wedding party attire should honor God’s house and His presence.
Non-compliance of these guidelines, or direction from the church staff or Event Coordinator by you or any party involved in your wedding may result in the forfeit of your deposit.
