Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Westland Baptist Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own homes, and spreads to every nation. Westland members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as answering phones, to boldly taking the Gospel outside of our community.

Prayer Team

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Westland is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s grace. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study at 6pm in our Chapel.  Childcare is provided.

Can we pray for you?  Please contact our Prayer Team Leader Michele Felten, mfelten@aol.com or our Prayer Line 281-392-6552

Mission Outreach

Westland is thrilled to be part of spreading the Gospel around the world.  In addition to financially supporting missionaries of the Southern Baptist Convention, we send missionaries out each week. Westland has dispersed teams of mission minded families to Bulembu, Swaziland-Africa where nearly 2,000 children are orphaned by the AIDS pandemic.  Another group of missionaries will travel to White River, Arizona to serve a community struck by extreme poverty of America’s Apache Nation.  We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means foreign missions or our church nursery.  You can also go to our Missions page for more info.

Music & Arts

Drawing believers to worship is what we love to do. Many church members get involved in our music and dance ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved in dance. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Westland Baptist Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

The usher team at Westland fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Westland’s. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.

Mentor Ministry

Life can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any relationship. Several women at Westland serve each other as mentors. Their role is listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging other women, by God’s grace, and walking along side them as prayer partners. Women have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship in Christ through their mentors.

Children’s Ministry- Westland Kids

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Westland holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service on Sundays. At the 9:45 & 11:00 services kids are given an opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from our H.Y.P.E. Team- kid’s worship team, to games, and fun object lessons.  If you would like to serve in any Children’s Ministry roles from holding sweet babies in the Nursery to discipling children in AWANAS, contact Christi Richards

Oakmont Ministry

Our Senior Citizen ministry is one of our most precious opportunities to minister to a generation who has done so much for our country.  On Tuesdays we travel to Oakmont Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center 1525 Tull Dr. Katy, TX 77449, and lead a Chapel time together at 10:00 A.M.  Join us and let’s serve together.

Permanent Promise

We are collecting non-perishable food items for area food banks.  We ask you to pray and “promise” to bring one canned good or other non-perishable item every time you come to church for as long as there are hungry people.  Our desire is to help feed those in need so that they may see God’s love and His glorious provision in action.  Find the food table across from the coffee bar in the Atrium.
