Building for Generations

Building for Generations in Katy TexasA Letter From Pastor Roy

Who would have thought that 20 to 30 people meeting in a restaurant to worship God could become a church with 400 people attending every Sunday and hundreds more attending during the week? And, instead of meeting in a rented restaurant, this church would be meeting on a new campus on the Grand Parkway in Katy, Texas. Well it has happened! During the last 19 years at Westland, many adults, students and children have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. Many of these have grown in Christ-likeness and are leading others into the New Life that Christ offers. We are now at another exciting impact point in our church’s life. We have the opportunity to reach hundreds more people for Christ. Just as our new campus on the Grand Parkway has made a difference in our ability to touch lives, the “Building for Generations” Campaign will change lives for eternity. The children and youth building will add space in which students and children will hear about Jesus, accept Him as their Lord and Savior and then be discipled to become like Christ and to reach their friends and families for Jesus. Making evangelistic disciples is what we are called to do. We are here to “Reach the lost and develop all believers into fully devoted followers of Christ.” The chapel will give us the opportunity for a fully assimilated wedding ministry. In addition to having a beautiful chapel for their wedding, couples will receive premarital counseling, receive information on how to have a successful marriage and experience the friendliness of the Westland family. Then, they will be pointed to Christ who can make their lives complete. The chapel will provide a more traditional and intimate space for the early, spirited-traditional service each Sunday morning. A new, mid-week adult worship service and Bible study will be possible with the addition of the chapel. In addition, more space will be provided for Adult Bible Fellowships to meet when the second story of the Life Development Center (Educational Building) is remodeled. “Building for Generations” is calling every person in the Westland church family to spend time with God and hear from Him. This is a defining moment in each person’s life and in the life of our church. What you and I do in the next month and in the next three years will make an eternal difference in the lives of thousands people. We are building these buildings for immediate use. And, we are building these buildings for generations to come. The cost is high. The call to sacrificial giving is to everyone. The possibility to make a difference in eternity is sure. Join me, your staff and leaders and all of the people of Westland in the challenge to of “Building for Generations”.
